Psychological Assessment and Talking Therapies

About Me

Dr Lydia Garmon-Jones BSc, MSc, PsychD, CPsychol.

Dr Lydia Garmon-Jones, Clinical Psychologist.

I am a compassionate HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) registered Clinical Psychologist with experience of working with individuals with a variety of presenting difficulties including anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma-related stress, adjustment to physical health issues and challenging life events, postnatal depression, self-criticism and feelings of low self-esteem. I have worked in different physical and mental health settings within the NHS for over 8 years and continue to work within the NHS.

I place great importance on developing secure therapeutic relationships through which I hope my clients can feel safe to engage with therapy without feeling they will be judged or misunderstood.

Working together to formulate an understanding of what's going on for you, and thinking about the reasons why, is an important step that allows us to consider how therapy could help you going forward. I draw upon models including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Compassion Focused Therapy to tailor a person-centered therapeutic approach to meet your needs.

Collaboration is always at the heart of my work, empowering individuals to feel able to make sense of their difficulties, equipped with the necessary skills to navigate their journey through a meaningful and fulfilling life. "Lydia is a great therapist who helped me so much in 12 sessions. She gave me a broad range of strategies which I could use to manage my anxiety and she always took time to ask what I wanted to discuss in each session. She always remembered things we had spoken about previously and I felt really listened to. I can’t thank Lydia enough for getting me to the place I am in today, she is incredible. I can’t recommend her enough".
